RESUMO

Background: This study aimed to investigate the influence of antibody CD166 on the inhibition of tumor and further investigate the influence on immune cells of tumor tissues in mice bearing oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). Methods: The xenograft model was established through subcutaneously injection of mouse OSCCs cells. Ten mice were randomly divided into two groups. The treatment group was treated with antibody CD166 and the control group was injected with the same volume normal saline. Hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) was used to confirm the tissue histopathology of xenograft mice model. Flow cytometry was used to detect the proportion of CD3+CD8+ T cells, CD8+PD-1+ cells and CD11b+Gr-1+ myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) cells in the tumor tissues. Results: After treatment with antibody CD166, the tumor volume and weight in xenograft mice model were significantly reduced. The result of flow cytometry showed that antibody CD166 showed no obvious influence on the proportion of CD3+CD8+ and CD8+PD-1+ T lymphocyte cells in the tumor tissues. In the antibody CD166 treatment group, the proportion of CD11b+Gr-1+ MDSCs cells in tumor tissues was 1.930%±0.5317%, which was significantly lower than that of the control group, 4.940%±0.3252% (P=0.0013). Conclusions: Antibody CD166 treatment helped reduce the proportion of CD11b+Gr-1+ MDSCs cells, and produced obvious therapeutic effect on the treatment of mice bearing OSCC.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a modified pulpotomy (MP) procedure in immature permanent teeth with apical periodontitis (AP). DESIGN: Randomised controlled trial. SETTING: One public hospital in Shanghai, China PARTICIPANTS: A total of 33 teeth (31 patients) with a definitive diagnosis of AP with radiographic periapical radiolucency were recruited in this study. All the patients (teeth) completed the study accordingly. METHODS AND INTERVENTION: Patients were randomly assigned to either MP or apexification treatment groups and were followed up for 12 months. Clinical symptoms and complications were recorded, and parallel periapical radiographic images were used to measure changes in root length and apical diameter. Wilcoxon's rank sum test and Fisher's exact test were used to compare the clinical and radiographic outcomes between MP and apexification, and analysed with analysis of variance. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURE: The primary outcome was increase in root length at 12 months. The secondary outcomes included tooth survival, clinical success and decrease in apical diameter. RESULTS: MP group showed a significant increase in root length (10.05%±2.14% vs 1.16%±0.79%, p<0.05) at 12 months and a decrease in apical diameter (48.88%±10.42% vs 15.90%±8.88%, p<0.05) as compared with the apexification group. The tooth survival rate was 100%, and 90.91% (30/33) of teeth were asymptomatic with apical healing in both treatment groups (p>0.05). CONCLUSIONS: MP can be an option for treating immature permanent teeth with AP. MP showed better performance in terms of continued root maturation than apexification. MP and apexification achieved comparable outcomes with regard to the resolution of clinical symptoms and apical healing. TRIAL REGISTRATION NUMBER: ChiCTR-INR-17012169.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: To observe the clinical effect of treatment of primary molar teeth with extensive defect using prefabricated metal crowns (PMCs). METHODS: 66 cases, 73 primary molar teeth with extensive defect (class I-III), which can not be repaired by amalgam restoration efficiently, were treated by means of PMCs, and were followed up regularly for 18 months. Chi-square test was used for statistical analysis by SPSS10.0 software package. RESULTS: 18 months after treatment,a total successful rate of 86.30% was achieved, with successful rates of 89.27%, 92.86%, 70.59% for class I-III respectively. Chi(2)=4.779, P=0.092 (P>0.05), there was no significant difference in the effect among the three types using PMCs. CONCLUSION: The clinical effect of the treatment of primary molar teeth with extensive decay using PMCs is satisfactory. In order to enhance the successful rate, it is necessary to restore the decayed teeth prior to using PMCs, control the amount of occlusal reduction, and crimp as required to adapt to gingival margin for snug fit.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: To study the effect of the toothpaste containing IgY against oral Streptococcus mutans. METHODS: 140 subjects were divided into 2 groups randomly (test group and control group). Before the beginning of the test, every subject underwent a elution period in order to lessen the other interference factors, then used different toothpastes were used respectively and the test began. Streptococcus mutans values were determined with Dentocult SM Strip just before test, at 1, 3, 7, 30 days after toothpaste used and 14 days after stopping toothpaste used. RESULTS: (1) In test group,Streptococcus mutans values decreased at 1 day after toothpaste used. In control group Streptococcus mutans values decreased at 3 days after toothpaste used. (2) Streptococcus mutans values decreased gradually in each groups after toothpaste used. (3) In test group, 2 weeks after stopping toothpaste used, Streptococcus mutans values were still suppressed. CONCLUSION: The application of the toothpaste containing IgY may reduce oral Streptococcus mutans levels significantly.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To observe the clinical effect on the treatment of traumatic intrusion of upper anterior teeth using orthodontic extrusion combined with fixation. METHODS: 24 cases, 27 teeth included, were treated by means of orthodontic extrusion combined with composite-resin split fixation. The clinical effect of 2-year-period was recorded. RESULTS: After the treatment of 27 selected teeth (16 immature teeth,11 mature teeth),11 teeth achieved the standard of success,16 teeth achieved the standard of efficiency, none of them was failing. CONCLUSION: Orthodontic extrusion combined with composite-resin split fixation is an active and atraumatic method in the treatment of traumatic intrusion of upper anterior teeth, and the effect is ideal.
